FCC to Discuss Mobility Fund Phase II & More at February Open Meeting

FCC Releases February Open Meeting Agenda

The FCC released the agenda for the Open Meeting scheduled on February 22, 2018. The FCC plans to discuss the remaining issues raised by petitions regarding the Mobility Fund Phase II Order. The FCC Fact Sheet states the Mobility Fund Phase II (MF-II) Report & Order “rules to move forward with the MF-II auction, which will provide up to $4.53 billion in highcost support over 10 years to extend mobile voice and broadband coverage to unserved areas.” The seven petitions for reconsideration will address the granting or denying in part requests regarding MF-II recipients’ obligation to obtain and maintain a letter of credit (LOC) amongst other challenged decisions.

Additionally the FCC will discuss a Connect America Fund Report and Order to “eliminate all payphone call tracking system audit and associated reporting requirements, permit a company official to certify that a completing carrier’s quarterly compensation payments are accurate and complete, and eliminate expired payphone compensation rules.” An order of this reconsideration would provide carriers additional flexibility for new construction projects.
