NaLA Statement of FCC Order Ending California Lifeline Verification Opt-Out

Today, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released an order revoking California’s “opt-out” of the federal verification process in favor of running its own process for verifying eligibility for the Lifeline program.

The National Lifeline Association (NaLA) has issued the following statement:

“The National Lifeline Association (NaLA) is studying the FCC’s order closely, but one thing is clear — we remain committed to modernizing and reforming the Lifeline program to strengthen and improve its effectiveness. We support efforts to align program verification methods and technologies across states and look forward to working with all agencies involved to ensure low-income Americans have access to essential, affordable communication services.”
