NaLA Statement on ACP Amendment’s Advancement out of Senate Commerce Committee

During today’s Senate Commerce Committee Markup hearing, the committee voted 14-12 to move the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act out of committee as an amendment to S.2238, Plan for Broadband Act.

The following statement can be attributed to David B. Dorwart, Chairman of the National Lifeline Association (NaLA):

“We applaud the Senate Commerce Committee for voting this legislation to fund the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) out of committee. The ACP keeps American families consistently connected to the internet and all of the essential services it provides — a requirement for modern life. Funding the ACP is good for everyone, everywhere — from veterans to single moms and older Americans, from rural farming communities to our largest urban centers. Low-income Americans cannot afford to wait any longer to have their ACP benefits restored. We urge members of Congress on both sides of the aisle to support funding for the ACP.”
